First Day Procedures – student placements

Dear Parents/Guardians,
On Tuesday, September 5th, we will be implementing a new plan to inform students of
their new class placement. We believe the benefits will be as follows:

•    Reduce anxiety for many students
•    Reduce the crowd in a very concentrated area
•    Reduce congestion concentrated by the gym door
•    Reduce the time allocated to inform students of class placement

Families are welcome to gather with their children on the asphalt at the back of the school
beginning at 8:20 am to mingle with each other, say hello to old friends, and share stories of the
summer past. At 8:35 am, when the bell rings, teachers will be holding signs with grade numbers on
them. Students are asked to say goodbye to their parents, identify which grade/sign is appropriate
for them, and then head to that area.

Once students arrive in the grade designated areas, teachers will begin reading out names and
taking students to their new classrooms. Parents are respectfully asked to say good-bye to your
child while on the yard before students enter the school / portable. Classroom teachers will begin
first day procedures and instruction, as soon as we enter the school building.

In the event of rain, students will enter through the front door and proceed to the gym where they
will gather by grade.

In the afternoon, all students and staff will gather in the gym for an official welcome  and prayer
to begin our new school year as the St. Brigid CES community. The staff looks forward to connecting
with parents at our Meet the Teacher Sub Night on Thursday, September 14th. More details will
follow in September.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,
Cathy Kuntz
