Good morning Celtics,

Term one report cards will be sent home Friday, February 17th. These reports are the assessment and evidence of learning collected and documented from September until now. Letter grades are given for students in grades 1-6 and percentage marks are given for students in grades 7-8. Teacher comments focus on your child’s strengths and next steps for learning improvement based on the curriculum. Kindergarten students will also receive their term one Communication of Learning Report  highlighting key learning and next steps in learning.

If your child has an Individual Education Plan, the IEP will be sent home along with the term one report card. Although formal interviews occurred in November, please feel free to connect with your child’s teacher if you have concerns or questions about your child’s progress.

We also want to welcome Mrs. Natalie Kroetsch as our interim junior music teacher.  Mrs. Kroetsch has been filling in for Mrs. Duffield for the past month who is currently on a leave.  She is teaching music to our grade 4, 5 and 6 students.  We welcome Mrs. Kroetsch for as long as this assignment lasts!

It’s Coming!!  We are excited to bring you our Valentine’s Day FUNdraiser on February 17th!  Please check out the schoolcash online post to make a donation for our Dance-a-thon!  **Teddy pop rings will be sold for $2.00 cash at the dance!

Students will be dancing, getting their pictures taken, and trying their luck at the guessing table and prize table!  A big thank you to each of the families in our classrooms who are putting together different themed baskets for students to enter in the draw!

Schoolcash Online is now open for families to make a donation to our Dance-a-thon!  Funds raised will go to classroom needs. As we raise funds, here what students can expect:

$1500 – No Homework on Family Day Weekend!    ~   $2500 – Gum and Candy Day (Provided by Mrs. Hunter)    ~   $5000 – Extra Recess for  Your Class

School News:

Lunch Program:

St. Brigid uses Lunchbox by SchoolCash Online for ordering lunches delivered the your child’s class! You can order either Domino’s Pizza or Subway … or both! Our lunch deliveries are scheduled for every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday!  Go to your SchoolCash Online account items page and click ORDER NOW at the top of the page or call the office if you need assistance.

Winter Weather:

Although weather-predicting groundhogs called for an early spring, right now it is still winter. Temperatures are dipping up and down & students may be outside for morning and afternoon recess, lunch break, and possibly even physical education class. Please dress properly for the weather. Hat, mittens, scarf, snow pants, and a warm pair of boots are necessary. Items that are labelled will be easier for your child to track down, as many boots and mittens look very similar. We ask that each child have indoor footwear too (e.g., running shoes to wear in the school and boots to wear outside).

Younger students who are not wearing snow pants or winter boots will be reminded to play on the drier blacktop area.  Children without winter clothing are encouraged to stay out of the wet snow. Students are further encouraged to bring an extra set of mittens and socks in their backpacks.
